Kong cools down?

Writing reviews is a tricky balancing act. While the readers need to be told what to look for in the movie and whether it is worth watching, it is easy for the writer to cross the boundary and make predictions. The Rediff.com review of King Kong started off with "Whoa" -- okay. But I was taken aback by the next sentence which began with "Move over Steven Spielberg"; I thought that was stretching it a bit too far.

The news first trickled in from Australia (upto 18 hours ahead of US). Later, we heard it in US itself. Bottom-line: King Kong hasn't done as well as expected.

The primary reason cited is the length. Whatever the reason, this result is slightly different from the usual patterns of hyped-up movies. Sometimes, such movies run as expected and many times, they flop miserably. Anyway, let's see how Kong ends up.
