Australia picture story - II

While this is not really a good time to recollect my Sydney trip, I can't help the itch...

Sydney is said to be the "New York of Australia". I don't know if that's true as I haven't seen New York. But it was definitely a buzzing city like Bombay... oops...Mumbai.

CeBIT was going on at Sydney during the time I was there; so, we saw several parts of the town painted red.

It's common in Australia to see such street shows. Folks display their talent and audience give some money in the end if they like. I can relate to such things in India too, which have now almost disappeared, atleast in cities. The above one was near the Sydney Tower.

This is one of the breathtaking views from the Sydney Tower. The Harbour Bridge stands out amidst all the sky-scrapers. It is one of the most visible landmarks of Sydney. A better picture lies below.

When the sun comes out, even a wee bit, Australians run to the sea with their yachts...

Check out the Sydney Tower as part of the sky-line...

Have you seen a double-decker train before?

The Telstra Stadium in the (2000) Olympics park was scintillating! Even a panoramic photograph doesn't seem to do justice...

In the Olympic park were these modern pillars (?), with names of all participating sportsmen. Didn't have the energy or time to look for any known names...

And you thought I missed the Opera House, that is famous for its structure even if one may not know its name? Above, it shines like a jewel, at dusk.

You can't really have enough of the Opera House. So, here's a closer, wider view. Able to figure out where Kamal and Manisha danced?
