Indian population growth!

Just today, heard again that India is poised to beat China in terms of population by 2050 (1.6 vs 1.4 billion)! The current population is unofficially clocked here. Some interesting facts are available on this Web-page (which I'm scared of reproducing here due to copyright considerations, sorry).

The average children per woman is more than 2! With a low death rate, there doesn't seem to be any easy way to control population. We can already see exploding cities becoming 'unliveable'. On a chat with a friend, he predicts that people are going to be fighting for land and water in the future!
