The "Tammy Nyp" phenomenon
If you haven't heard about "Tammy Nyp" till now, you really aren't into blogs. This "sex scandal" has been triggered by a raw MMS clip that emerged. It features a girl supposedly named Tammy, studying in Nanyang Polytechnic ('Nyp') of Singapore and a guy. Here's what I've observed on the Blogosphere:
- All kinds of stories are doing the rounds, including the identity of the guy and that this video is a preview meant to generate hype for a soon-to-be-available 90-minute porn movie.
- Bloggers are using the opportunity to get hits, as this story has dominated Technorati Top 10 for two days or more now. There are folks putting up fake downloads just to get their blogs viewed! There is also debate going on the right and wrong.
- Till a day or so, there was no sign of it on Google or the news. Now, we can see a whole lot. The first one (Tammy Nyp domain name!) itself gives you an indication of the kind of craze spreading.

Why is it that when the singaporean chinese corner Technorati, it's always about something asinine? A very small-minded world these people live in. Think there ought to be an IQ test before one is allowed to start a blog - lest the pressures to conform are effected by cretins rather than their more thoughtful nemesis. If not, the intellectual development of Les Impressionables will be subjected to the Tyranny of Gross Stupidity.
